ATI welcomes nearly 40 community leaders on its 20th anniversary

Antofagasta Terminal Internacional (ATI), 28 de marzo 2023

Antofagasta Terminal Internacional (ATI) hosted around 40 representatives from academic institutions, schools, and social organizations, along with local residents, as part of their 20th anniversary celebration. The purpose of the event was to share information about their community engagement plan and the terminal’s operational model.

"Our goal is to strengthen our relationship with the communities in Antofagasta where we operate, so it is a priority for us to be transparent with information, maintain ongoing dialogue, and work collaboratively with the community towards the common good," summarized Claudia Pizarro, Deputy Sustainability and Communications Manager at ATI.

The attendees enjoyed the event and appreciated it as an opportunity for dialogue and mutual understanding. "As a technical high school with 202 years of history, it is wonderful to be considered since we are located near the port. We have students in different programs, and it is beneficial for them to learn more about port-related opportunities," said Verónica González, Production Manager at Technical High School A-14.

Jaime Videla, manager of the nearby Tangerine Building, thanked ATI for the invitation and commented, "It is essential to understand how they operate and how they relate to their neighbors. I believe there has been a significant improvement in their work regarding the environment. As neighbors, we will be ready for the next visit."

Elsa López, Administrator of the Antofagasta Public Housing Organization, expressed that "our community consists of older adults. We have had ongoing communication with ATI and hope to finalize the initiatives we have discussed for the benefit of our neighbors."

ATI presented various initiatives to the community, including the "Get to Know Your Port" program, which has allowed more than 9,000 people to visit the terminal; "Grow with Your Port," focused on promoting human capital development; environmental education initiatives related to the protection of the environment in "Caring for My Coastline"; effective communication methods; and agreements and partnerships with various entities such as firefighters and universities.

Since 2014, Antofagasta International Terminal has deepened its work with the community, priding itself on an open-door policy to strengthen its relationship with neighbors and engage systematically, continuously, and openly with its stakeholders on matters of mutual interest.
