Antofagasta Terminal Internacional (ATI), a port operated by SAAM Terminals, will enhance its vessel services with the acquisition of 13 specialized and modern terminal tractors for carrying containers and other cargo inside the port terminal.
ATI's operations manager, Alex Muñoz Zapata, noted that "this important investment helps us strengthen our fleet of mobile equipment, which will allow us to boost our competitiveness and our operational standards. This is another important step to improving the quality of our services and enhancing the development of the region's cargo from the port sector."
Four of the terminal tractors already arrived at the terminal on January 30th aboard the MV Dusseldorf Express. The equipment will also improve productivity in copper concentrates[ED1] at the terminal, enabling the company to reach a state-of-the-art standard in port transport equipment.
This new equipment will also strengthen worker safety, in addition to enhancing human capital, since new jobs will be generated as terminal tractor operators, creating new development opportunities for people.
